Verosol blinds Gold Coast

Heat Stopped At The Glass

Verosol SilverScreen is a metallised fabric — the backing reflects solar radiation instead of soaking it up and releasing it into the room. We are a Verosol dealer, and we measure, make and fit it right across the Gold Coast as roller blinds, pleated blinds or curtains.

Why Lusso, Gold Coast

We are a Verosol dealer, and we will talk you out of half of it

Buy It For Two Windows, Not Twelve

Verosol earns its price on the glass that actually cooks — the west wall, the north-east slider, the office window you cannot use after two o'clock. Run it through a whole apartment and you have spent good money on south-facing rooms that were never the problem. We would rather specify it where it works and put something cheaper everywhere else, which is a smaller invoice and a better job.

  • 01We are a Verosol dealer, and we can supply SilverScreen in three forms — roller blinds, pleated blinds and curtain fabric on a runnered track. Most suppliers offer the roller and nothing else, which puts a blind on a window that wanted a curtain.
  • 0248 years and three generations on this coast, more than 10,000 blinds fitted, and membership of the Window Shading Association of Australia and its code of ethics. We have measured inside most of the tower stock between Coolangatta and Southport, so we already know what the glass and the by-laws will allow.
  • 03We stock the full sunscreen openness range — 1%, 3%, 5% and 10%. That makes the glare-versus-view decision yours rather than one we quietly make for you by only carrying one fabric.
  • 0412 months on our installation workmanship from the day we fit it, and 12 months to 7 years on the product itself depending on the system, componentry and fabric. Which period applies is written on your quote.

Local conditions

Towers, glass and water

You Cannot Shade A Tower From Outside

On most of the Gold Coast beachfront the glass is the wall. Floor-to-ceiling sliders, no eaves, and a body corporate that will not let you fix anything to the façade. The standard Queensland answer to heat is to stop it before it reaches the glass — the national Your Home guide puts external shading first for exactly that reason. In a tower that option is simply gone, so the work has to happen at the glass instead. That is the argument for a reflective fabric in one sentence.

Then there is the part people forget. The ocean throws light back up at you. A blind pulled halfway is a position that works fine in Nerang and fails at Main Beach, because a good share of the load is arriving from below off the water rather than from above. Same window, same fabric, completely different result depending on which side of the highway you are on.

Salt air is the other one. It does not touch the fabric, it goes after the componentry — brackets, chains, the pin in a bottom rail. We specify for it, and our warranty terms are honest that corrosion from salt air is not something any manufacturer covers. Nobody who has lived here a full summer needs that explained twice.

The detail that matters

Reflect It, Do Not Absorb It

A dark fabric that stops light still gets hot, and then it radiates that heat back into the room from 50mm inside your window. Verosol SilverScreen carries a metallised backing, so solar radiation is turned around at the glass instead of being soaked up and released again. That is the entire argument, and it is why the fabric costs more than a standard sunscreen.

01 — Mechanism

Metallised, not just dark

The backing is metallised. Radiation that hits it is reflected rather than absorbed, which is a different job from simply blocking light. We publish the mechanism and not a percentage, because the reflectance figures in circulation are the manufacturer's marketing and we have not verified them ourselves. The longer explanation is here.

02 — Openness

1%, 3%, 5% or 10%

Openness is the percentage of the weave left open, and it is the number that decides whether you keep the view or kill the glare. We carry all four. On a west wall we would usually go 1% or 3%; where the water view is the reason you bought the place, 10%. Which openness a given SilverScreen comes in is settled on the quote, against the actual window.

03 — Width

About three metres a blind

A single roller runs to roughly three metres, and wider on some fabrics. Plenty of Gold Coast sliders are wider than that, which means two blinds meeting at a mullion. That is a decision worth making at the measure, not on installation day — it changes where the join lands and whether you notice it.

Sun And Glare, Handled

Eighty-five five-star reviews sit on the reviews page. These three are the ones about heat, glare and living beside salt water, printed exactly as they were written.

We are very happy with our sun blinds, they are very effective in keeping sun and glare out. The installers were very professional and we would have no problems recommending Lusso blinds to anyone.

Lyell Crapper

So good! I love the blind, the way it looks and the amount it has minimised the sun and heat.

Dayana Winnall

We have been very happy that we chose Lusso blinds right through our beachside unit. The quality is excellent and perfect for the climate and the salt air. On the rare occasion that we have needed a repair it has been done…

Put It On The Glass That Is Cooking

01 Living rooms

The west or north-west wall of glass, which is the window that made you look this up. SilverScreen on a roller here, at 1% or 3% openness, is where the fabric pays for itself.

Quote
02 Bedrooms

SilverScreen is a sunscreen, not a blockout — it will not darken a room and it gives you nothing after dark. Pair it: sunscreen on the front roller for the day, blockout on the back for the night, both on one bracket.

Quote
03 Home offices

Glare on a screen is a contrast problem, not a brightness problem. Go to the lowest openness you can live with — usually 1% — and accept that you lose some of the view. The openness trade-off, in detail.

Quote
04 Balcony sliders

Wide, heavy and usually the hottest opening in the place. Expect two blinds rather than one past about three metres, and expect us to ask what your by-laws say about the outward face before we quote a colour.

05 South-facing rooms

Honestly, do not bother. A south-facing window on the Gold Coast takes very little direct sun, and a standard sunscreen or a sheer will do the same job for less. This is the room where we will talk you down.

Before you ask

Cost, lead time and coverage

What are Verosol blinds?

Verosol makes both fabric and blinds, and SilverScreen is its metallised fabric range — the backing reflects solar radiation at the glass rather than absorbing it and re-radiating it into the room. It gets made up into a roller blind, a pleated blind or curtains, and the hardware around it is the same hardware as any other blind we fit.

Do Verosol blinds actually reduce heat?

Yes, and the mechanism is real: reflecting radiation before it becomes heat is a different and better job than absorbing it. What we will not do is put a percentage on it. The reflectance figures you will find quoted around the internet are the manufacturer's own and we have not verified them, so we describe what the fabric does and leave the numbers alone. If you want the physics rather than a brochure, the government's Your Home guide to glazing is the honest version.

How much do Verosol blinds cost on the Gold Coast?

It depends on the window size, the form you want it in and whether the opening needs one blind or two, so any figure before a measure is a guess. As a shape: SilverScreen sits above a standard sunscreen fabric and below a made-to-measure roman. The quote is free, itemised component by component, and there is no deposit to get a price.

How long do Verosol blinds take?

Roller and pleated blinds run 2 to 3 weeks from check-measure to installation. As curtain fabric on a track, 2 to 4 weeks depending on the fabric. Motorisation adds about a week, and more if power has to be run to the opening. Those are good-faith estimates, and the one that applies to your job goes on your quote.

Will Verosol blinds black out a bedroom?

No. SilverScreen is a sunscreen — it cuts heat and glare and keeps some of the view, which means it also lets light through and gives you no privacy once it is dark outside and lit inside. That is physics, not a product gap. For a bedroom we would pair it with a blockout on the same bracket.

Can I put Verosol blinds in an apartment?

Usually yes, and it is often the only heat control a tower will allow, because most bodies corporate will not permit anything fixed to the outside of the building. Check your by-laws before you choose a colour — many buildings also set what the outward face of a window furnishing may look like from the street. Bring us the by-law and we will work inside it.

Is Verosol Australian made?

Verosol is a Dutch company, headquartered in the Netherlands with facilities there, in Spain and in Australia. Its Australian manufacturing runs out of Revesby in Sydney, which is also where a back-to-base warranty claim goes. Origin varies by product, so if Australian manufacture matters on your job, ask and we will get it in writing against the item on your quote.

Which Gold Coast suburbs do you cover?

All of them, and the corridor either side. We work from Byron Bay to Brisbane — Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach, Robina, Coolangatta, Southport, Main Beach, Mermaid Beach, Hope Island, Currumbin, Arundel, and inland through Nerang, Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Paradise Point and Bundall. We come to you; there is no showroom visit to sit through.
